Medari Asia Project Spotlight

MedAssist

AI-assisted clinical documentation for healthcare professionals

MedAssist is a digital health initiative by Medari Asia focused on reducing the administrative burden of clinical documentation while helping healthcare professionals create clearer, more structured medical notes.

The project explores how artificial intelligence can support everyday clinical workflows in Malaysia's multilingual healthcare environment while keeping healthcare professionals in control of the final record.

The Challenge

Clinical documentation is essential, but it also consumes time and attention that healthcare professionals could otherwise devote to patients.

Notes must be clear, complete and useful for continuity of care, yet documentation often takes place during busy clinical sessions where time is limited and information must be captured accurately.

Documentation Burden

Creating and completing clinical notes adds administrative work to already demanding healthcare environments.

Consistency

Important information can be captured differently across clinicians, specialties and care settings.

Time to Record

Documentation frequently competes with consultation time, follow-up work and other clinical responsibilities.

The MedAssist Approach

MedAssist is designed to support healthcare professionals in turning clinical conversations and observations into more structured documentation.

Artificial intelligence is used as an assistive layer rather than a replacement for clinical judgement. The healthcare professional remains responsible for reviewing, editing and finalising the record.

The project is being developed around practical healthcare requirements including usability, privacy, security, interoperability and multilingual clinical workflows relevant to Malaysia and the wider region.

What better documentation support can enable

  • Reduced repetitive administrative work
  • Clearer and more structured clinical notes
  • More consistent documentation across clinical workflows
  • A stronger foundation for future healthcare data exchange

Designed for Malaysia's Multilingual Care Environment

Clinical conversations in Malaysia often move naturally between languages. MedAssist is being developed with this real-world environment in mind rather than assuming a single-language workflow.

The platform is intended to support clinical documentation workflows involving Bahasa Malaysia, English, Chinese and Tamil, with further language and dialect support evaluated as the product develops.
